Reading Course Option
Reading courses are intended to add flexibility to your MI program by providing you with an opportunity to develop a specific interest in the information management field.聽 A reading course will enable you to study an aspect of a topic in greater detail than is possible within an existing course, or study an area not covered by the curriculum.聽 Reading courses also allow you to conduct a research study or special project.
Quick reading course facts:
- A reading course is worth 3 credit hours, or the equivalent of one 3-credit hour elective course; you may take a maximum of 2 reading courses during your program.
- Students enrolled in the MI or a combined degree program, who have completed at least four three-credit graduate-level courses, with a grade point average of 3.3 (B+) or higher may be eligible to take a reading course.
- Reading courses may be completed in the Fall, Winter, or Summer term.
- You may choose to present a summary of your research at a public "student research" event in SIM.
Getting started:
- Speak to SIM's Director about your interest or topic.
- Confirm eligibility; there is a within-program GPA requirement for thesis students.
